A MOM, A ROOSTERKOEK AND THREE SIBLINGS.

The Abrahams family consists of great bakers. Mom Maggie was a full-time nurse but always wanted to earn extra income with her baking skills. Her eldest son, Etienne, said, “Let's do something, Mom”.

It all started as Friday deliveries of roosterkoeke – their family’s classic – in Ceres back in November 2016.

Big dreams start small, beginning with a simple yet efficient pop-up restaurant. Brother Leolan, a mechanical engineer and sister, Yolani, a pastry chef from Stellenbosch, joined the team in 2017. Together with Dad Trevor's business skills, it was called Kole en Deeg making the main attraction their famous roosterkoek.

One thing led to the next, and the pop-up became a permanent eatery in Ceres in 2018, where they received two Eat Out 500 Awards.

Kole en Deeg then moved to the picturesque Tulbagh in August 2020. Two consecutive years they've been nominated KFM's Best Breakfast Spots Top 5 and have also won various Trip Advisor awards.
